Trailer Jack, Pro Series, Manual, Sidewind, 15 in Of Travel, 5000 lb Capacity, Steel, Black Paint, Each
Trailer Jack
I have a very old and extremely well built homemade trailer that I use to haul cars and trucks. It is made from I-beams, weighs over 3K empty and is a real beast. Finding something to lift it with a vehicle on it and take the abuse of my sons has been no easy task. Big box store and retail trailer shop jacks have not been up to the task. They last a season, if that, but ultimately fail. During my rehab of the trailer this spring, I went looking for a heavy duty jack that I could weld onto the frame and would meet my needs once and for all. After looking at jacks in the $100+ range, I ran across a review of this particular jack and was impressed with its many 5 star ratings. Now that I have had the jack a while and put some miles on it, I can add my 5 star recommendation to the others. This is a strong, simple and well made jack! Nothing fancy about it, but it gets the job done and lifts my trailer easily. I really like the drop foot that allows me to take up a lot of the space before having to crank it. The adjustment points are a little far apart and I may drill one or two more to make it better for me, but that's a personal preference. I also like that it has a grease nipple in the head to lube up the gear mechanism (also replaceable). I will say that some of the photos in their ad are incorrect and don't do the actual jack justice. Some photos show the jack with a chrome-like foot, when in reality, it comes with a large, heavy metal foot painted black to match the jack. This is a much better and bigger foot than is pictured in some photos and it work extremely well.In operation, the jack works great. It is smooth cranking and lifts my heavy trailer easily. We welded it directly onto the tongue and added gussets on both the top and bottom to help with any side deflection. This is not needed in most applications, but my welder is a bit OCD and is overly cautious. This thing is now rock solid and is not going anywhere in my lifetime or the next. LOLBottom line: This is a great, well-made item that will get the job done and at a decent price point. Quit wasting money on light weight, big box trailer jacks and step up to this jack, install it correctly and you will literally be a "Happy Camper"
