This dog carrier is great. Our 25lb French Bulldog fit perfectly and can turn around in the bag and pop his head out. It fit under the seat in Comfort+ on Delta on a Boeing 757-200 (just pull out the rear plastic rod). I got a spinner wheelbase as well to make it easier to carry through the airport. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HBTZ4DV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_detailsUsed it for a 6 hour flight with a 10 lbs cat. Extremely satisfied.Light. Easy to clean. Good ventilation. Privacy.Update on 2/17/2022: We flew with the XL on Delta Boeing 767-400 from JFK to LAS. Delta lists an under seat height clearance of 8.5” but the bag was able to conform to the space with the 2 front to back rods removed. I highly recommend sliding the bag in from the aisle before you step in your row. Then you can easily maneuver the bag into the space in front of you. After stressing out for months about whether we could travel with our pet, our 11 month old puppy flew just fine in the SturdiBag XL. The carrier is tall at 16” high and when you call the airlines to book your pet, you shouldn’t say the bag is more than 11” or 12” high. We removed the 2 rods that are inserted at the top and run front to back. Doing this helps the carrier to appear shorter than the 16” height and 19” length. We didn’t have problems sliding the bag and squeezing it under the seats on 2 different planes. We trimmed the foam board to 17” and it did not affect the bag’s stability. We trained our puppy to go in the carrier months before we flew. We’d leave it open in the back seat of our car and she would go in there to sleep during long road trips. Our puppy is a long legged Aussiedoodle and stands at least 4” taller than the carrier. She would duck her head to go inside the carrier and turn around but she wouldn’t do it on command. We weren’t asked to make her turn at the airport. The ticket agents just check to make sure the puppy is in the bag and then they give you the Pet in Cabin tag. We did buy the extended leg room seats as it was a long flight and it does make it easier to slide the SturdiBag under the seats. The process of flying with our dog was much easier than a lot of reviews on here would suggest. Our dog was super chill in her XL carrier during the flights. We did bring a SturdiBag L just in case we were questioned about the XL size but it wasn’t needed. This is a great bag and I highly recommend for dog owners who want to try flying with their taller small/medium dogs. This is a well made product however it arrived with some type of dried, off-white debris splattered on the middle side of the bag. It showed up real well with the burgundy color backdrop so I’m surprised this was missed by the seller. Perhaps it was a returned item?? Very gross. Also, for our use, I found it to be quite complex to open and close all of the compartments, including the breathable mesh which required unrolling of the window covers. Prior to opening any compartment you have to drill your way through the shoulder strap first and then the carry handle which bundles up into a snap enclosure. Again, this is a well made product but the design didn’t work for our needs. We have a 16 pound Schnauchi (mini-schnauzer/Chihuahua) that stands 16” high (from the floor to top of her head), 8” wide and 22” length. She could not stand completely but could duck and turn around with plenty of room to be comfortable. She easily with extra room fit the length and width of the bag. I can see why this is a popular bag for travel if you don’t mind having to deal with trying to get into Fort Knox!!!We also purchased the large PetAmi Premium airline approved soft sided ventilated bag. It isn’t as wide but it is taller and our pup can stand up completely and turn around with room to lay down. She fits in fully length wise with very little room to stretch out but width wise she has a bit extra space so she can curl up easily. It’s about a third of the price and you can tell based on the sturdiness but for our use, which is generally non-stop, 2 hour flights, it was a better fit. Both bags are squishable and can probably fit under many airline seats but I guess you could get the employee that wants to be a jerk and insist it doesn’t meet airline specs. I thought about making a foldable cardboard cube using the airline dimensions and if questioned, pull it out and stuff the bag in it!!Regardless, I hope everyone enjoys safe travels with their pups!I have a mini poodle on the taller side almost 17 inches, he can fit in here comfortably and turn around in it with no issues. I havent flown with it yet but I am this October and I needed this. Have ready good things about it flying with delta so fingers crossed!I was looking for a carrier that can fit under the seat on the plane. I bought other brand earlier where the side expands to give more space, but then it was pretty stiff and felt I cannot squeeze that in although it said it will in the description. This one is really flexible and can squeeze down easily, but then it gives plenty of room inside. My pup is 33cm shoulder to toe when standing up (5.4kg), and she can easily stand and turn around inside this X-Large size . It does look pretty big, so am not sure what the impression the airline company will have. The size is not so different from XL to Large, so I might try buying the Large and give this one away. Overall I am satisfied with the product.
